- Economics: Market. Prosperity and fairness come mostly from competition, price signals, and keeping government's footprint small.
- Culture: Progressive. Inherited norms encode old exclusions along with wisdom; society improves by deliberately updating them.
- Race and sex: Colorblind. Fairness means the same rules for every individual; past injustice is best remedied by equal treatment going forward.
- World: Global engagement. American safety and prosperity are built through trade, alliances, and leadership; withdrawal is the costlier path.
- Enforcement: Liberty. State power is the freedom that's hardest to claw back; the benefit of the doubt belongs to the individual, not the enforcer.
- System: Institutional. Institutions and experts are imperfect but still the best tools a society has; reform comes from within them.
How the name is assigned
The poll asks 36 scored questions, six per axis, each a choice between two statements written by someone who holds that view. Your answers place you on each axis, and the name is the template your profile matches most closely. A profile that matches none of them closely enough is Cross-Pressured. Names are hypotheses until the data confirms them; the methodology page says how we test them.
